Treasure Data – It’s not Magic (but it’s pretty close!)

It’s the evening before Treasure Data launches. JasperWorld is winding down and I have a few minutes to reflect on an amazing week – moving into our new offices, Dreamforce, JasperWorld and getting ready for Treasure Data’s launch tomorrow.

My team has been incredible but that wasn’t really a surprise – from the dev team in Tokyo to the guys in the US, we have world-class people. What was a surprise was the customer and partner reaction.

For example, while we were at JasperWorld, Kaz our CTO, talked an existing Jaspersoft customer through the migration of a 100 million rows of data into Treasure Data, uploaded the JDBC driver to talk to Jaspersoft and had reporting up and running in less than three hours! That’s the power of Cloud Data Warehousing and big data as a Service.

We’ve had great validation of our vision. We are moving into a data-driven world but big data is still too costly, too complex and takes too long to implement to be a reality for most companies. Making big data available as a service is, to use Brian Gentile of Jaspersoft’s words “the magic” that can make this happen.

Of course, it isn’t magic – its hard work done by smart, committed people. So, yes, it’s been an amazing week but it’s going to be an amazing year. Thank you to my team – I am so proud of all of you.
